"I observe, I sense, I watch, look, listen, touch and do all I can to bring a mental image of my subject; then, from that, I create my artwork.

I set down my sketches, juxtapose materials, mix techniques - always aiming to keep hold of that first emotion.

I always try to bring the lifeforces into the work. Everything has to focus on making that happen: gestures that are simple yet sure, vivd colours, occasional splashes and spots...

Little by little, driven by my own standards, I work until I'm satisfied. The satisfaction never lasts very long and will be questioned again as soon as the next canvas comes along....!
